Self-Motivation

No need for coaching while working on the competition task! Students can find the solution on their own within the time limit set. They only need to cooperate well with their teammates and… love robotics!

Initiative

Students are free to decide: i) what kind of equipment and materials they are going to use, ii) the software they are going to work with, iii) if they are going to compete, exhibit their creations, or both, iv) the difficulty rating of the task they are going to tackle in the competition, and v) how they are going to present their creations in the exhibition!

Acceptability

Everything is acceptable – especially, your imagination! Do whatever you need to do to achieve the desired outcome. Use whatever material you like. It's all OK with us!

Awards

Your work will not go to waste and nobody is going to feel let down because our evaluation system is transparent and available to everyone beforehand. Judges of all ages and various affiliations help implement it. Medals and awards are presented to the winning teams!

No registration fee

Thanks to the support of the Municipality of Neapolis-Sykies and our sponsors, your participation in the Student Robotics Festival is free of charge! You only need to care for your students' transportation and sustenance cost.

Celebration

The Student Robotics Festival is a celebration of robotics! Join us and find out for yourselves…

What is the Student Robotics Festival (SRF)?

The Student Robotics Festival (SRF) is an initiative of the Experimental Junior High School of the University of Macedonia in cooperation with the Regional Directorate of Primary & Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, the School Counselors of the Region of Central Macedonia, the Directorate of Secondary Education of Western Thessaloniki, the Municipality of Neapolis-Sykies, and Academics from the University of Macedonia. The event aims to accomplish the following pedagogical objectives: motivate students to get involved in constructing and programming robotic devices, cooperate and work in groups, take initiatives, innovate, and break new ground through investigative and experiential learning.

The 4th Student Robotics Festival consists of a competition and an exhibition, which are open to all Greek and European schools. It will be held at the Experimental Junior High School of the University of Macedonia on Saturday 16 December 2017.

5th Student Robotics Festival
A CELEBRATION OF ROBOTICS, VOLUNTEERISM, AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

The Experimental Junior High School of the University of Macedonia is organizing the 5th Student Robotics Festival on Saturday 15 December 2018. This innovative event is held in cooperation with educational institutions (the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, the State School Coordinators for ICT in Central Macedonia, the Directorate of Secondary Education of Western Thessaloniki, members of the teaching staff from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Macedonia) and the local authorities (Municipality of Neapolis-Sykies). In a spirit of healthy competition, exchange of ideas, creativity, innovation, friendship, and joy, the 5th Student Robotics Festival (SRF5) is expected to bring together schools from around Greece and across Europe.

SRF5 is held under the aegis and the permission of  the Administrative Committee of Model and Experimental Schools. First held in 2013, the event has steadily grown to become Greece’s major non-profit robotics meeting thanks to sponsorships and the volunteers that support it. The event is twofold, offering participants the opportunity to compete against each other or exhibit their ideas live in the exhibition room or through videos and/or presentations. Allowing participants to use their own equipment, SRF5 is once more going to encourage the robotics teams to rely on creativity, cooperation, and innovation to carry out the tasks set by the Organizing and the Scientific Committees supervising the competition. The implementation of an open and clean marking system safeguards that all teams are treated fairly and that awards will be presented to the best teams in the competition as well as the exhibition.

If you are running a robotics club/class and would like to encourage your students to present their work to their peers across Europe while, at the same time, claiming an award for their hard work, the Organizing Committee of the 5th Student Robotics Festival would be delighted to display your creations in our exhibition room (through a video and/or presentation) or even welcome you personally to participate in our competition. Just visit our website at mfr.peiramak.gr. We will be happy to assist you in any way possible and make your participation in our event as smooth as it can be.
